Starting on the 13th Ocotber and going on until the 14th November, the Festival de Otoño (Autumn festival) brings together dance, music and theatre acts to a wide range of venues across Madrid. You can enjoy music from Brazil, including Caetano Veloso, and the Serrat Sinfónico. Dance spectacles come from Spain, Belgium and Holland and inlcude a flamenco show called the 4 elements.
In the theatre you can watch anopera piece entitled: “El compositor, la cantant, el cuiner i la pecadora (the composer, the singer, the cook and the sinner). You will also find in the theatres Hamlet and King Lear in Spanish; a work by Cervantes and Tirso de Molina in English (with Spanish subtitles) from the Royal Shakespeare Company; visual theatre (no words!); some works by Chekhov, Brecht and Molière and a range of work from a number of European theatre companies.
The theatres where all the shows will take place include but are not restricted to: ‘Círculo de Bellas Artes, Teatro Albéniz, Teatro Español, Teatro de Madrid and teatro de la Zarzuela. Tickets can usually be booked at the theatre or through El Corté Inglés, though if you go to the ‘Espacios’ section on the Spanish version it will say where you can buy tickets.
